Chouchoute has received a welcome boost in support from the #ForTheLoveOfChocolate campaign, sponsored by Cadbury. In generous spirit, Cadbury has partnered with Chouchoute and five other independent chocolate brands across the country in an effort to encourage the nation to support their local businesses.It's been a tough year for the High Street, with many shops having to close their doors for good as a result. Regretfully, that includes Chouchoute, as we have now permanently closed our Birmingham retail store, becoming an online-only business. According to a report from business insurance firm Simply Business, small businesses in the UK have lost nearly £69 billion in sales over the past year, so there's likely to be many more shop closures to follow. In recognition of the recent and ongoing retail trading conditions, as well as its humble roots as an independent retailer (based only a stone's throw from our own shop in Birmingham city centre), Cadbury has launched an initiative to encourage shoppers to buy a treat from their local independent chocolate trader. They've selected six independent brands to partner with, Chouchoute being one! For two weeks in May, Cadbury has changed its ever-popular ad - Mum’s Birthday - on TV, outdoor advertising and YouTube to feature its partners’ branding in place of Cadbury Dairy Milk. We're delighted that Cadbury chose to include Chouchoute in its campaign, and appreciate the heart-warming gesture. It's a rare event for big brands to show solidarity with smaller ones like Chouchoute - and all for the love of chocolate!
